David Frawley, DOM
The American Institute of Vedic Studies
Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) is a rare combination of a yogi, Vedic scholar, Ayurvedic doctor, Vedic astrologer and teacher of Hindu Dharma. He teaches Vedic subjects in harmony with the classical traditions of India and as part of a spiritual path of inner practice. Dr. Frawley is one of the few westerners recognized in India as a Vedacharya or teacher of Vedic wisdom. In 1991 under the auspices of the Indian teacher, Avadhuta Shastri, he was named Vamadeva Shastri, after the Vedic Rishi Vamadeva. In 1995 he was given the title of Pandit along with the Brahmachari Vishwanathji award in Mumbai for his knowledge of the Vedic teaching. Over the years Vamadeva has received additional awards and honors for his work from throughout India.

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
The Ayurvedic Institute
Vasant Lad brings a wealth of classroom and practical experience to the United States. A native of India, he served for three years as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune, India. He was Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine for 15 years. He holds a Bachelor’s of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from the University of Pune and a Master’s of Ayurvedic Science (MASc) degree from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya. Vasant Lad’s academic and practical training include the study of Allopathy (Western medicine) and surgery as well as traditional Ayurveda.

Robert E. Svoboda, B.A.M.S. is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. He graduated in 1980 from Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Pune, where world-renowned author and Ayurvedic Physician, Dr. Vasant Lad, B.A.M.S., M.A.Sc., was one of his professors. Since that time he has traveled extensively around the world, lecturing and conducting workshops on Ayurveda. Dr. Svoboda has traveled to more than fifty countries in the world, understands six languages and has authored several books. Dr. Svoboda consults with people privately. He usually presents one or two seminars each year at Dr. Lad's Ayurvedic Institute, which is where the Medicine Buddha Healing Center's Losang Jinpa, D.Ayur was able to learn from Dr. Svoboda's numerous yearly seminars since 1995.
